LINA TRIVEDI
FREELANCE WEB DESIGNER, DEVELOPER and WRITER

About Picture
Lina Trivedi is a Web developer and community college educator in the areas of financial planning, professional development, marketing and e-commerce. She specializes in small business development and through her classes, she educates her students on how to launch small businesses utilizing the Internet.

Before becoming an educator, Lina Trivedi ran a Web design and marketing firm in Chicago with a team of 16 employees. The Chicago Sun Times named her one of the top 30 entrepreneurs under the age of 30 in 2000. Her firm was also named one of the top 30 design firms in Chicago by Crain's Chicago Business. In her career, she produced and managed Web sites for many Fortune 500 companies, as well Web sites for small businesses that began with innovative ideas that were built from the ground up through her active role in the project.

Using her life experiences, which include battles with the legal system resulting from liabilities from her first business, she strives to inspire minority business owners while educating them to make sound choices and judgments within their businesses. Her experiences with the legal system led her to the world of non-profits where she worked as a job developer within the Workforce and Economic Development team at the Urban League of Greater Madison in order to produce job opportunities for individuals from economically disadvantaged backgrounds.

Lina Trivedi also writes a weekly column in the India Tribune, a national ethnic newspaper serving Indians in America. Her column addresses issues related to balancing dual cultures among second and third-generation Indians in the United States. Her writing career began with her first job at Ty, known for the ever-popular Beanie Babies, where she was credited to authoring the first 136 poems found inside the tags of the popular toys, and creating their first Web site.

Lina Trivedi is a Chicago-native and currently lives in Wisconsin. She served on the City of Madison Community Services Commission and the CDBG Commission, however she is currently focusing on freelancing, running her technology firm and being a new mother.
